This converter moves between Unix timestamps and readable dates, and it accepts a whole list at once rather than one value at a time. Paste a column of numbers from a log file, a database dump or a CSV and read the dates back; or type a date and get the timestamp to store. It is the tool you want when debugging a server log or checking when an access token expires.
Unix time counts seconds since 1970-01-01T00:00:00 UTC and ignores leap seconds, which makes it an absolute value with no time zone attached. That is why a ten-digit number means seconds and a thirteen-digit number means milliseconds: the extra three digits describe the same instant, and it is milliseconds that JavaScript's Date.now() returns. Dates before 1970 come out negative.
How to use
- Paste your timestamps, or a list of dates, into the input box.
- Choose the direction: Epoch to date, or date to Epoch.
- Set seconds or milliseconds if the unit is not detected automatically.
- Pick the display time zone, defaulting to your machine's local zone.
- Copy the output or download it as CSV.
