This generator turns one source image into a complete favicon and app icon set, producing everything from 16x16 for browser tabs up to 512x512 for phone home screens, along with the manifest file that declares them to browsers and operating systems. It also outputs the ready-made link tags, so you can drop the files into a site folder and reference them correctly.
A single favicon.ico is no longer enough: browsers want 16 and 32 pixel versions, retina displays need multiples of those, and iOS requires a square, non-transparent image for the home screen. Start with a square source of at least 512×512, and remember that fine detail vanishes completely at 16 pixels.
How to use
- Upload a square source image, ideally 512×512 pixels or larger.
- Pick a background colour for the iOS icons, since that platform ignores transparency.
- Preview the icon at its smallest sizes to confirm it stays recognisable.
- Download the archive containing all icons and the HTML snippet to paste in.
