This password generator creates random strings inside your browser using the browser's cryptographic random source, window.crypto, rather than Math.random, which is not suitable for security purposes. You set the length and toggle which character sets to include: uppercase letters, lowercase letters, digits, and symbols. Each click yields a fresh password, and none of them are stored or logged anywhere.
Longer passwords are exponentially harder to guess, not linearly. A 12-character lowercase-only password has roughly 26 to the power of 12 possible combinations, while a 16-character password mixing all four character classes has a number of possibilities billions of billions of times larger. Growing the length matters more than adding symbols.
How to use
- Drag the slider to set your desired password length.
- Toggle the character sets: uppercase, lowercase, digits, and symbols.
- Exclude look-alike characters such as O, 0, l, and 1 if you need to read or type it by hand.
- Generate and copy the password into your password manager.
